The mercenary-turned-Rebel operative from LucasArts' Dark Forces, Kyle Katarn was one of the Expanded Universe's most popular original characters. This figure represents Katarn from his early Dark Forces appearance before his Jedi training, so no lightsaber here — just the blasters that carried him through Imperial installations. Part of the 1998 Expanded Universe sub-line where Kenner drew from comics, novels, and video games, with each figure packaged with a cardboard 3-D diorama.
The sculpt carries the characteristic POTF2 proportions of the era. Katarn's oversized weapons are typical of the line, and his outfit blends elements from both the Dark Forces and Jedi Knight game designs. A second Kyle Katarn figure wouldn't appear until the 2009 Legacy Collection Comic Pack, paired with a Yuuzhan Vong warrior.
