Star Wars Movie Press Kit Summer 1978 - Vintage

Vintage Movie Press Kit | 20th Century Fox | 1978

Original 20th Century Fox press kit folder for Star Wars, marked "New Material Summer '78" on the cover. This is the press kit Fox issued for the summer 1978 re-release of the film, a little over a year after the original May 1977 opening.

Press kits were sent to newspapers, magazines and broadcasters as the studio's official promotional package. The folder typically held production notes, cast and crew biographies, synopsis pages and black and white publicity stills for reproduction in print. Contents varied from kit to kit depending on what each outlet received and kept, so no two surviving examples are quite the same.

The "New Material" banner refers to the updated promotional pieces Fox prepared for the re-release, which was timed to keep Star Wars in theatres through the summer of 1978 as the film continued its record setting run.

Includes 7 lobby cards and photocopied information sheets.
