One of the earliest pieces of Star Wars ever produced. 20th Century Fox mailed this campaign book to theatre owners and film reviewers months before the May 1977 opening, when the film was still an unknown quantity and exhibitors had to be sold on it. For most people receiving it, these pages were their first look at Luke, Leia, Ben Kenobi, the Jawas and Tatooine.

The Star Wars logo itself began here. Suzy Rice, art director at Seiniger Advertising, designed it in late 1976 for this brochure's cover. George Lucas asked for something that looked "very fascist," and she built it from outlined, modified Helvetica Black, joining the letters and giving the W sharp, pointed tips. Before release the points were flattened for the film's opening titles, and the flat W became the permanent logo. The pointy W survives only on the earliest pre-release material, which is why collectors use it to tell those pieces apart, and the back cover still carries the "Design: Seiniger & Associates" credit.

Inside are wide colour stills from the film, credits, press notes and character profiles for Luke Skywalker, Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi and Princess Leia Organa with their cast. The mailer box turns up far less often than the book, and copies with the box and its logo band intact are scarce.
