Original Takara Japan Star Wars R2-D2 metal badge pin, sealed in its blister on the dark blue starfield card with the Japanese and English Star Wars logos. Item number 410011-6, priced at 200 yen on the card. The pin is a cast metal R2-D2 in an antique bronze finish with a pin back. Card carries the Japan Toy Association ST safety mark and the Takara Dakko-chan logo.

R2-D2 was the face of Takara's 1978 Star Wars range in Japan. The droid appears as the mascot on the back of the SF Pack cards and Takara gave him more products than any other character, including the eraser, the pencil sharpener, the wind up walker and the large Missile Firing R2-D2. The metal badge is the smallest of them. The three metal badges in the SF Pack line were R2-D2, C-3PO and the X-Wing Fighter, sold alongside button badges, pendants and a keychain as pocket money items during the film's Japanese run.

Takara's Star Wars licence covered the Japanese market only and ended after the 1978 season, so carded examples of the small novelty pieces are harder to find than the figures and vehicles.

100% original vintage Takara Star Wars — no reproduction parts, ever.
